[Important] On the expected changes from AY2026 Entrance Examinations (conducted in AY2025) (released on June 21, 2024) We expect the following changes in the AY2026 entrance examinations (conducted in AY2025) of our graduate school. For details, please refer to the admission guide for the graduate school and the admission guide for each department, which will be released in late April 2025 (TBD). ・Regarding the screening process for the Doctoral program (Regular Admission and Special Selection for Professionals), the distinction between primary and secondary examinations will be abolished. In the AY2026 Summer Entrance Examinations (conducted in AY2025), all the examinations will be held in the summer of 2025, and the results will be announced in September 2025. Similarly, in the Winter Entrance Examinations, all the examinations will be held in winter and the results will be announced in February 2026. The same changes are expected to apply to AY2027 (conducted in AY2026) and later Entrance Examinations as well. |

An overview of the types of entrance examinations and the schedule for AY2026 entrance examinations (conducted in AY2025) at this Graduate School is given in the following document.
Japanese Government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, MEXT) Scholarship students (Research Students) (Embassy Recommendation) will be accepted into this graduate school as “Graduate International Research Students (non-degree)”, in principle. Similarly, MEXT Scholarship students (Research Students) (University Recommendation) will also be accepted into this graduate school only as “Graduate International Research Students (non-degree)”. Please refer to here for more details. If the applicant wishes to proceed to the Master's or Doctoral programs after they entered as a Graduate International Research Student, they will need to take and pass the entrance examinations (Regular Admission or Special Selection for Professionals).
* AY stands for "academic year". In Japan, each academic year is from April to March in the next year.

The University of Tokyo has taken the decision to waive the payment of entrance examination fees by applicants affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, floods, etc., to lighten the economic burden and to secure the opportunity of admission for applicants.

Examinees should ask their recommenders to provide a Recommendation Letter. Examinees applying to the Department of Information and Communication Engineering are required to download the specific form from here and send it to their recommenders.
Examinees should register the necessary information about the examinees (their application receipt numbers, names, email addresses, etc.) and their recommenders (names, affiliations, positions, email addresses, etc.) through the "Registration Form for Recommender". (available from May 30)
The URL for uploading the recommendation letter will be notified to the recommender by email.
The recommender should upload the recommendation letter to the website indicated in that email.
