On November 5, 2025, the "UTokyo IST Women's Gathering" was hosted by the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology (IST) for female graduate students and researchers at IST, as well as undergraduates from related departments.
Around 20 participants deepened their connections in a friendly, informal setting while enjoying a standing lunch. Female professionals from Fujitsu Ltd., which supports IST's gender equity and diversity initiatives, joined the event, giving participants a chance to discuss not only research but also their future careers.
The number of female researchers and graduate students in the IST remains limited. The event was a great opportunity for participants to exchange information and ideas they don't usually have access to. Many participants shared positive feedback, such as: "It was great connecting with so many female researchers in STEM." and "It was so helpful to hear from people with more experience. It gave me great ideas for my career."
We plan to continue hosting networking events for female students and researchers in the future. Announcements will be posted on the IST website, and we look forward to welcoming many participants.
